Rules for puppy placement, stud list and kennel listing
As a breed association, we would like to remind our Flemish breeders that in order to obtain a Flemish pedigree, they must comply with the breeding program outlined in the Flemish Breeding Decree. The most recent version can be found here. Combinations that do not comply with the breeding program are still eligible for a Flemish Offspring Certificate.
The GRCB is a national organization within an international, kynological community, with the FCI as the coordinating association. In the interest of equality for all members (regardless of their place of residence), the GRCB has attempted to establish a well-considered breeding regulation that applies to all members. This breeding regulation takes into account not only health but also aspects of "exterior" and/or "work."
Please find the updated regulation below:
Pup placement:
Both parents must have a DNA certificate for PRA1, PRA2, and prcd-PRA.
Both parents must have an internationally recognized HD certificate (e.g., FCI, BVA, OFA).
Both parents must have an internationally recognized ED certificate (e.g., FCI, BVA, OFA).
Both parents must have an official eye certificate that is no older than 2 years at the time of mating.
The breeder must have been a continuous member of the GRCB for at least 1 year.
At least one of the parent dogs must have participated in at least one GRCB activity: either an exhibition organized by the GRCB, a breeding day, or the Selection event, and must have achieved at least the qualification 'very good.' Alternatively, they must have participated in the Working Test or Field Trial, where a score (except 'EL' or 'NC') was achieved.
Only puppies that will receive an official FCI pedigree will be mediated
Puppy mediation can be requested through the GRCB website using the online form.
Stud list:
The male dog must have a DNA certificate for PRA1, PRA2, and prcd-PRA.
The male dog must have an internationally recognized HD certificate (e.g., FCI, BVA, OFA).
The male dog must have an internationally recognized ED certificate (e.g., FCI, BVA, OFA).
The male dog must have an official eye certificate that is no older than two years at the time of mating.
The owner must have been a continuous member of the GRCB for at least 1 year.
The male dog must have participated in at least one GRCB activity: either an exhibition organized by the GRCB, a breeding day, or the Selection event, and must have achieved at least the qualification 'very good.' Alternatively, they must have participated in the Working Test or Field Trial, where a score (except 'EL' or 'NC') was achieved.
If your male dog has not participated in a club activity but meets the other conditions, the GRCB allows a transitional year during which you can fulfill this requirement. If you do not participate in a GRCB activity within one year, your male dog will be removed from the stud dog list without any financial compensation.
For male dogs listed on the stud dog page, for which frozen semen is available, the conditions must have been met at the time of collection.
Male dogs that (repeatedly) mate females without an FCI pedigree, females who cannot present valid health results, or litters for which no pedigrees were requested, will be removed from the stud dog list.
It goes without saying that additional health tests or qualifications may be listed on their page, along with a great photo.
New stud dogs can be registered via the online form on the GRCB website, along with a one-time payment of 25 euros to our bank account.
Kennel listing:
The breeder must have been a continuous member of the GRCB for at least 1 year.
Only puppies that will receive a Flemish Pedigree or Flemish Offspring Certificate and/or an FCI Offspring Certificate are bred.
Only parent dogs that are tested for hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia and hold an internationally recognized certificate (e.g., FCI, BVA, OFA) are bred.
Only parent dogs that are tested for ichthyosis, PRA1, PRA2, and prcd-PRA are bred.
Both parent dogs must have an official eye certificate that is no older than two years at the time of mating.
If a stud dog is used, it is only paired with females that hold an internationally recognized HD and ED certificate, a valid eye certificate, and a DNA result for PRA1, PRA2, and prcd-PRA.
If it is found that a breeder (repeatedly) does not adhere to the above agreements, their kennel listing may be removed from the GRCB website.
Additionally, the breeder is obligated to pay an annual fee of 50 euros and make efforts to encourage their puppy buyers to join the GRCB.
